Sledding & Snow Tubing

Sledding and snow tubing are classic ways to enjoy winter in Breckenridge, offering simple, affordable fun for all ages. Whether you’re looking for a casual afternoon with the kids or high-speed tubing thrills, the area has a range of hills and parks to keep everyone smiling.

Sledding in Breckenridge

Carter Park Sledding Hill

Carter Park is Breckenridge’s most popular sledding spot, located just four blocks east of Main Street near the elementary school. The hill is wide and walk-up, with just the right amount of steepness for both kids and adults. The park features stunning mountain views, bathroom facilities, picnic tables, and even a large dog park for your furry friends. Sledding here is free-just bring your own sled, or check the on-site “sled shed” for a community sled you can borrow or leave for others.

Runway Sledding Hill

The Runway Sledding Hill is a newer, man-made hill located off Airport Road on Fraction Drive. It’s regularly groomed, fenced for safety, and has porta potties on site. This hill is also free to use, with easy parking and access via the Breckenridge Free Ride bus loop. Like Carter Park, there’s a “sled shed” where you might find a sled to borrow, but bringing your own is recommended, especially during busy times.

Where to Get a Sled

You can pick up a sled at local stores around Breckenridge, including City Market. The “sled shed” at both Carter Park and Runway Hill offers a take-one/leave-one system, but availability isn’t guaranteed, so renting or buying your own is a good idea.

Snow Tubing Near Breckenridge

While Breckenridge itself doesn’t have a dedicated tubing hill, several nearby resorts offer full-service tubing experiences, complete with groomed lanes and surface lifts:

Frisco Adventure Park

Just a short drive from Breckenridge, Frisco Adventure Park features multiple tubing lanes-some mellow, others steeper for extra thrills. The park uses a surface lift to bring you back to the top, so you can get in plenty of runs. Reservations are required, and sessions fill up fast during peak times.

Keystone’s Adventure Point offers mountaintop tubing with several lanes of varying steepness. Take the River Run Gondola to the top, then enjoy the magic carpet lift between runs. This is a great option for families looking for a high-energy tubing experience.

Copper Mountain Tubing Hill

Copper Mountain’s Coca-Cola Tubing Hill features four lanes with different speeds and slopes. Ride solo or link up with friends, then use the magic carpet to get back up for more fun. Advance reservations are recommended, especially on weekends and holidays26.
