Dogsledding

Dogsledding in Breckenridge offers a fun, hands-on way to explore snowy forests and mountain scenery. This activity is a favorite for families, friends, and anyone looking for something different during their winter visit.

Winter Dogsledding Tours

Good Times Adventures is the main dogsledding outfitter in Breckenridge. Their 6-mile tour follows scenic trails along the Swan River Valley. Before heading out, guides show you how to work with the huskies and explain the basics of mushing. The tour is run as a relay: guests take turns driving the sled, riding as a passenger, and relaxing in a small sleigh with the guide. Everyone in the group gets a chance to try mushing and to enjoy the ride.

Each tour lasts about an hour and a half, with plenty of opportunities for photos and time to meet the dogs. The huskies are friendly and enjoy greeting guests. Expect lots of wagging tails and energy.

What to Expect and What to Wear

Dress in warm layers, similar to what you’d wear for skiing. Winter boots, gloves, goggles or sunglasses, and neck warmers are recommended. Good Times Adventures provides snow boots and insulated snow suits at no extra charge, but you’ll need to bring your own gloves and hats. Sunscreen and a camera are also a good idea.

Important Information

  • Minimum age: 5 years old (children under 5 and pregnant women cannot join)
  • Maximum weight: 275 pounds per person
  • Reservations are required and spots fill up quickly, especially during holidays
  • Arrive 30 minutes before your tour for check-in and to get your gear
  • All guests must sign a liability waiver

Summer Dogsledding

In the summer, you can visit the kennel, meet the huskies, and learn about their training. Good Times Adventures offers summer kennel tours, including a ride as the dogs exercise on a two-mile circuit. It’s a great way to see the dogs in action and learn about their care.
