2018 Schedule of Events

❄ Technical Week ❄

^ See How The Blocks Are Built By Watching The Video Above! ^

January 16-21, 2018

Watch as huge earth movers work to fill 10 foot wide by 12 foot tall cubes with compacted snow. The enormous blocks of snow are built in anticipation of the artists arrival – allowing the blocks time to settle and compact under their own weight prior to being carved. This allows for a more consistent medium, allowing the sculptors the ability to execute their gravity-defying designs!

January 22-26, 2018

After sitting for a few days, the sculptors have a 20-ton cube of snow to work with and in a few short days.. Sculpting begins at 11:00am on Monday, January 22 with a shot gun start and sculpting ends on Friday, January 26 at 10:00am. The talented artists carve these enormous snow canvasses into expressible and amazingly intricate three-dimensional works of art using only a combination of their own two hands, creative vision and an approved set of tools. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 27 at 2:00pm. A popular time to visit is the night before the awards ceremony (Friday, January 26) as artists are preparing to stay up all night to do detail work and the atmosphere is celebratory.
